Yesterday was a sad day at the Reichert house. Our Dog Lyndie was hit and killed by a car. We had two Cairn terriers Lyndie and Oliver. Lyndie was our fun, friendly one. She was the one who had all the tricks down, including our favorite trick. You would point your finger gun at her and say "BANG BANG" then she would fall to her side and play dead. The kids took it like you would expect....with alot of tears. Lyndie was a great Dog.

First Day of School

School is back in. Although earlier than I would like, the kids are excited for the up coming year.

Noah is starting the 5th grade which at Monticello is your last year of elementary.

Oakleigh is starting the 7th grade and is 7th Grade President
( I am super proud if you can't tell)

Izabelle is going into the 2nd grade

and is excited to have her friends in her class.

Noah is so excited because he gets his own locker this year. He had to share last year which he hated because his locker partner always put his stinky gym shoes in their locker.

This year Oakleigh will have Ms. Reasor for art. Also we are so excited to have a cousin at Monticello again. Abby, Britta and Carson use to attend MA until they moved a couple of years ago but now we have "Willow" (who is my oldest brothers oldest daughter) who by luck of the draw (aka lottery system) was chosen for one of the 15 spots still open in kindergarten (500 applied I heard)

Yesterday was the kids first day back to school. There are some cool new changes this year at the school, some stupid changes and some cool things that are the same as last year. One of the cool new changes is our Awesome new art teacher Ms. Reasor, who just so happens to be my cousin as well. Another cool change this year is that Oakleigh is now considered to be in Jr. High and so she now gets to wear the Jr. High school uniform, which means she can wear black pants, black shirts and a skirt instead of a jumper plus the regular khaki pants, maroon and white polos. The stupid change this year is their "early" day is no longer as early. Last year they got out at 12:40 and this year they don't get out until 2, which is only 40 minutes earlier then the regular days. I would love to know who's brilliant idea that was. I loved early days it gave me time to do something fun with the kids. The cool thing that stayed the same is that Noah gets to have his favorite teacher Mr. A again (and probably next year too). Mr. A is a great teacher for Noah. Noah is a super smart kid and he knows it. He thinks everything he has to say is the most important thing.(Just a quick funny story. Once when Noah and I were driving in the car when Noah was three years old. Noah was showing of what a smarty he is and I turned to him and said "Noah you are so smart" and Noah replied "and cute too". LOL! he is so funny.) Anyway Mr. A does a great job at letting Noah show what a smarty he is but not letting him get out of hand. Mr. A is a funny guy and his sense of humor really appeals to Noah. I think this year is going to be a great year including for me. I am hoping with all my childless time (now that all my kids are in school full time) will be very productive. Here is hoping to actually keeping up on laundry.

The Annual Guys River Trip

Every year the men in our family do a guys trip and for the last several they have been doing a river trip. It usually lasts about four days (on the Green River) and they eat like Kings. Usually Alex and my brother Brandon do most of the planning and food prep but due to Alex's schedule Brandon did most of the work. Thank You Brandon! We appreciate your hard work.

Oakleigh's Bike

Oakleigh asked for a bike for her birthday but it had to be orange. She looked on the Internet and found this bike and told us this was the one we should buy her. It is cool to have a kid old enough to do their own birthday present research. We ordered it and they sent the wrong one so we had to send it back and wait for the right one to arrive. It arrived the day after her birthday. She loves to put her puppy Oliver in the basket and take him for rides. Oh and because we bought a new camera to replace the one Alex put in a "safe" place, we of coarse found the old one (that we bought clear back in April). Now we have HIS and HER cameras.

Oakleigh's 11th Birthday

Yeah! we have a camera again. Alex put our camera in a "safe" place and then couldn't remember where that "safe" place was.

Oakleigh had a Slumber Party for her Birthday. She only wanted to invite five friends so we also went to dinner at Chick-fil-a and then went to go see the movie Aliens in the Attic. When we got back from the movie we did cake and presents. For an activity we made flower barrettes, which the girls loved. We gave Oakleigh a bike that arrived a few days before her birthday but they sent the wrong one so we had to send it back. The right one should arrive today. I will take a pic and post it when it arrives, if it arrives before Alex takes the camera on his river trip.

Day 6 Going Home

Izabelle was singing to herself and pouting that nobody wanted to play the humming game.

We were suppose to stop and stay in Las Vegas, but everyone was in a hurry to get home, so we decided to do the trip in one day. Alex was in a big hurry which would explain the picture of him with the police officer. He got of with a lecture that included a slide show on the cops itouch. It's not a road trip without being pulled over.

Day 5 Universal Studios

Universal Studios was a Blast, Literally. We had so much fun. We went on a tour and were able to see a lot of cool things like where Desperate House Wives is filmed. The kids loved the rides. I think Izabelle is a Roller Coaster Junkie. The best thing was definitely the Water World show.

On day 4 we went to the beach it was pretty cold but the kids didn't care they hit the ocean running. I don't think they even noticed it was raining a little.
Later that day Alex tried to book a fishing charter but the one he wanted to go on didn't start running until July so he settled for fishing off the pier. He caught that ugly fish in pics above.

Day 3 Sea World

The first full day we were in San Diego we went to Sea World. The kids had a lot of fun watching Shamu and going on all the rides. It was so nice because all of our kids are tall enough to go on all the rides. Izabelle had a slight melt down. (We are horrible because we like to take pictures of her pouting which only makes it worse I'm sure.)

Day 2 Las Vegas to California

First week of summer

I love summer! I love having the kids home and love doing fun things with them. We had a super busy first week of summer.

Last Monday we went to the zoo, It rained but was still alot of fun.

Tuesday Belle had her first Piano lesson.

Wednesday we went to Lagoon . It rained that day too but not to bad. Alex had the camera that day so I didn't get any pics. Izabelle is such a dare devil. I've never seen a kid so little love roller coasters like her. She loved the wicked. I personal think it is wickedly freaky.

Thursday we actually were able to just stay at home.

Friday My Little sister and her family came from Moab to celebrate her son Maverick's 4th Birthday.

Saturday We went to Bluffdale Days for a parade, where Izabelle was hit in the eye with a flying piece of candy, and big blow up slides. Not a bad first week of summer.

The second/third week of summer will be even better. San Diego here we come!

Today was the Kindergarten Picnic at our school. Ms. Hansen ( Izabelle's teacher) never does anything half way.

They played games, cleaned desks, did a talent show and had one of the best spreads of food at a school function I have ever seen. The last pic is of me and some of the other Moms who religiously volunteer at the school. That is one of the great things about volunteering on a weekly bases is that I have made a lot of friends too. I love and am blessed that my husband has always worked hard (sometimes working two jobs and going to school) so I was always able to stay at home and be there for all of our kids major and minor events. He Rocks!

Tracy Aviary/ Liberty Park

Alex's New Calling

Today Alex's new calling was announced at church ( we found out two weeks ago). We were asked not to tell anyone until it was officially announced. We were able to tell our children last night. I think most people in our ward had a pretty good idea though. F.Y.I. Don't buy a new suit and wear it the week before. Everyone in our family also had a good idea because we needed them to come to our ward so we just told them that Alex was being made a High Priest and they knew from there. Alex was already the Executive Secretary in the Bishopric and now is the Second Counselor. We have already had joking predictions from ward members he will be the next Bishop but when the Stake President mentioned maybe he will be Stake President that was not as funny. Our Stake President is young, probably late thirties, and was made Second counselor when he was very young like Alex. His Grandpa Reichert came an ordained him a High Priest, which was very special to Alex. My dad was made a High Priest a few years ago so he was also able to stand in the circle. After I was of coarse the first to get a hug and a kiss (no body else got a kiss though). Then he was set apart as the second counselor and I got another hug and kiss. That is when the stake president said that those were to make up for the times he will be away. I know I am not suppose to be proud but I can't think of another word for it.

Louisville, Ky

Last week my parents, sisters (Hawni, Harmonie, Rebecca) and myself all went to my nephew Kai's boot camp graduation at Fort Knox in Kentucky. While we were there we had the chance to do so many fun things.We went to the horse races at Church Hill Downs.

Went on a ghost tour of Louisville (that was pretty dumb except for all the giggling we did)

We went to Glass Works which is where they do glass blowing. We didn't get any pictures of that so I put this Picture of me and Becca being "blown" by the wind.

We were able to spend one whole day with Kai after his graduation (which of coarse I cried ). We are all so proud of him. He is our oldest Nephew (I was 11 when he was born) and so he is very special to us all because we all spent a lot of one on one time with him when he was little.

We also went to the Louisville Slugger Factory/museum. In this pic we are all holding the actual bat of a famous baseball player (Micky Mantel etc.) This was such a great trip.

Alex's Birthday

Alex's birthday was awhile ago (April 4th) but I hadn't had a chance to blog about it. We woke up on Alex's birthday (now the big 30!) and it had snowed. We were sick of the cold so we took off for a spur of the moment trip to St. George. It was so nice down there. The kids swam and played ping pong. I shopped and Alex got to take a long nap. Alex wanted a Chainsaw so that is what he got. Then he decided he wanted a new camera and a motorcycle so he got those too.

Okay Okay I know I am the worst blogger ever. I'll try to be better. Well Noah turned 9 at the beginning of February he had a swimming party, with a bunch of friends and cousins, at the West Valley Fitness Center. He wanted an ipod so that is what we gave him. It is hard to believe he is 9. He is such a smart, inquisitive and good looking kid. And I love his classic 9 year old boy smile ( you know the smile where their teeth are still to big for them.)

Izabelle's 6th Birthday was this last weekend. For her Birthday Party we went to go see the movie Hotel for Dogs with some of her friends (the kids loved it but it was not so hot for adults). It was amazing how good the kids were.

Oakleigh's Christmas Concert

Oakleigh's Christmas Concert was today. At Oakleigh's school, when you hit the fifth grade, you get to chose between band, orchestra or choir. Before fifth you just take a general music class. Oakleigh chose choir. They sang four songs (only one was a Christmas song though) My favorite was Hava Nagela (which I probably spelled wrong) It is fun to see how mature she is getting. In my opinion she is the prettiest girl in her class.

Tonight for Family Home Evening we went to This is the place state park with our friends the Henricksen's. There was actually quite a bit to do. We went to Santa's workshop and put together giant toy trains. The kids made reindeer bags and gingerbread ornaments. There was a live Nativity and also Father Christmas with live reindeer. The best part I thought was our private showing of The Heritage Christmas Carolers. After we were done we came back to our house and Jill fed us some super yummy cookies.

Have I ever said how Awesome my darling husband is? He is the best. My Husband always can not wait for my birthday befor he gives me my present. And this year was no different. He gave me a laptop a couple of weeks ago. Which is the coolest. But this year so I would get something on my actual birthday he got me a gift card to Aldo so I could buy the over priced riding boots I wanted from there. Which I love. Alex also came from awesome parents they gave me an American express giftcard so I could buy whatever I want. I wanted a pair of skinny jeans do wear with my new boots,so I bought a pair of bebe jeans I practicaly stole.(Normally 168 I got them for 79 now that is AWESOME!)

Free Birthday Lunch

My friend Jill and I have the same birthday (which is tomorrow so this is my last day of being in my 20's). We decided to work this to our advantage, so we both signed up for a free birthday meal from Noodles & Company. Then we also signed up for free ice cream from Cold Stone. We went together yesterday and got our free meal. When we were ordering the guy was trying to flatter us by telling us to have a great 21st birthday. Of coarse I had to have him guess my age. He guessed 26 so I was happy. (Jill forgot to ask him to guess her age)We then went to Cold Stone for our Free ice cream. What could be better than lunch with a friend? A FREE ONE!

The Puppies are Here

As most of you know we have a male and female cairne terrier. We got our female Lyndie first. We decided we wanted to breed her so we then got our male, we named Oliver. This morning when I woke up ,to my daughter Oakleigh asking me where Lyndie was, we started to look for Lyndie. We went down stairs and found her and Oliver on our couch. When I started to scold them for being on the couch and told them to get off Lyndie did not obay,which was odd, I went closer and saw that she had four little puppies.(and blood all over the couch)We were so excited we woke everyone up, including my parents next door,to come see the puppies. While we were trying to get Lyndie sitchuated some place other than the couch.She became very quite and out came flying (No Joke) another puppy that Alex some how caught right in his hand. So as of right now we are the proud owners of seven Cairne Terriers.

Family Home Evening

For FHE, this last Monday, we cleaned out our garage. It was so bad in the garage we could barley walk. We needed it cleaned out so Alex would have room to work on the house. Which benefits the whole family. I wish we would have taken a before pic but I didn't think about it. We set a timer for one hour and in that time we took everything out of the garage, swept and put everything back. I can even park my car in there now. After we went to Leatherby's to reward all of our hard work.

A little more than a year ago we bought a house right next to my parents, because Alex wanted a big yard with a garden. This house has a yard that is 5 times bigger than the yard at our first house and half of it is garden. I think the yard size has really started to effect the way Alex dresses. Here he is wearing his irrigation boots, Carrhart overalls and his Tilly hat. Isn't he just so cute! I love it. I think he is really considering my idea of an Olympic sized swimming pool though. LOL!

Gardener Village

The kids are out for UEA, so I wanted to do something fun with them. (I'm one of those Moms who love it when the kids are home instead of at school. Weird huh!) So we went to Gardener Village and it was packed. The girls got their nails done in a totally witchy way. We then went to have a pony ride and go to the petting zoo. It was great to watch the kids with the animals. Especially Oakleigh she just seems to have a way with animals. It was so crowed there that the poor moms with strollers could hardley move through the traffic. It was one of those times it was nice to have older children, they just know to stick with mom and not wonder off, which makes it alot more fun. We ended our little Gardener Village visit with a trip to the candy shop.

Corn Maze

We try to go do something every week with our little family. This week we went to a corn maze, even though it was pretty cold. The kids thought it was pretty fun to run ahead, hide and see if they could scare us. We didn't do the haunted part of the maze because are fearless Belle was the only kid who wanted to do it.

Our Anniversary

On September 13th We celebrated our 11th anniversary in Las Vegas. The only pic we took was at the airport, on the trip home, of Alex sleeping and me trying to get us both in the picture. Pretty sad huh.

Fallen Officer Memorial

Today Izabelle and I went with Becca, Bridger, Maverick, and My Mom to go watch Bill stand in the place of a fallen officer at the state capital. It was really neat. Becca and I were able to meet Gov. Huntsmen and he talked to Izabelle for quite awhile about how kindergarten was going. He also mentioned how much he loved my nephew's name Maverick. We then meet Sheriff Winder of the Salt Lake County Sheriff Department, who will hopefully be Bill's boss soon if the rest of his interviews go well. Then they will be able to move back to Salt Lake.

Daddy Daughter River Trip

Every summer the men on my side of the family go on a father son trip. The last two they have gone on a canoe trip down the Green River. The girls always stay at home with me and Noah goes with Alex. The girls kept asking their dad to take them on a Daddy Daughter trip so he took them on their own trip down the green this last weekend. They drove down to Moab on Friday night and spent the night at Aunt Becca's House. They got up early the next morning and had Uncle Bill drop them off on the river.They were on the river for the next three days. I think they make some pretty cute river rats with their long sleeve shirts, life jackets, and keens. Alex said they had a lot of fun except the first night it rained pretty hard. And when they got home I had a nice new car for them.

Our New Armada

While Alex was gone with the girls this last weekend, he told me to go buy us a new car. And that is what I did. We had been looking for the perfect car for months and months and I finally found it. We decided months ago we wanted a Nissan Armada LE because it has 8 seats, so we can space the kids out, a big engine that can tow easily and they just look cool. I really wanted the navigation system because it includes the backup camera which has made the transition to a bigger car very easy. I got everything I wanted on my long list ( leather, power lift gate, AUX for my ipod, one handed fold up seats and tons of space) except a dvd player (weird huh it has the nav but not the dvd) but I really want the dvd system to have the screens in the head rests so all the kids have their own screens so it wasn't that big of a deal that we didn't get it. I have been procrastinating getting a new car because I didn't want to have a car payment and I have just loved my Grand Cherokee but it was time and the jeep is 10 years old. Alex got his truck a couple years ago (that is what the canoe is sitting on behind the Armada) but I haven't had a new car for a long time so this is pretty darn exciting to me. And now when my sister comes to town we can all go together places in the same car and that is super sweet.

The First Day of School

Yesterday was the First Day of School. Oakleigh is now in the 5th grade and would not let me take any good pictures of her.Oakleigh's schedule is still pretty much the same. She has A & B days, just like a high school student, P.E., Math, English and History one day. Then Music, Spanish, Science and Art the next day.

Noah is now in 3rd grade. His schedule is not quite as hard as Oakleigh's he has the same classes, but stays with the same teacher for three or four of his major classes and then switches for the rest. Oakleigh was not that lucky in 3rd grade, she is in what I like to call the Guinea pig class where they see if it works on them and if it doesn't they switch it, Oakleigh had the A-B schedule in 3rd. When Noah walked into his new class room yesterday a group of girls started shouting in excitement that Noah was in there class. It was pretty funny. When I was at the school later that day I found Noah in the lunch room with a group of girls around him. ( See picture above) I guess he his still a ladies man.

Izabelle started Kindergarten, she was so excited. She wanted to be in the P.M., so she could sleep in. She is such a cutie in that uniform.

Classic Skating

We went to Classic Skating yesterday with my sister Harmonie and her kids. Classic had a huge blow up toy area where the kids spent most of there time playing. Harmonie and I just sat and talked the whole time, while the kids ran wild. ( My camera was low on juice so all my pics turned out pretty horrible.)

Noah really wanted me to post these pictures of the "FOAM FINGER FIGHT" He thought they were pretty darn funny. I'm amazed Tanner is still sticking around after the abuse he gets from these kids.

The Salt Lake Bees Game

Alex's folks took the whole family to see the Bees play tonight. It was fun. We had great seats, we were right behind home plate. The kids didn't even ask how much longer until the bottom of the 8th. WOW! Grandpa of course bought them everything they wanted ice cream, foam fingers and little souvenir bats (which of coarse they hit each other with.)

Although nickelcade isn't my favorite place, the kids love it! We decided to go there today, spur of the moment. School starts in less than a week and we just want to cram in as much fun as possible. Noah won the most tickets 300+. Oakleigh totally beat me at air hockey and sadly I didn't let her. Izabelle actually won two stuffed animals from that claw game. Really for the amount of fun they had it was worth the twenty bucks.

THIS IS A TEST. I have had this blog set up for a few months but have never done anything with it. My friend Jill told me to put some stuff on here, so here it goes. I have never done a blog before, so this is all new to me. I am going to try to put some of my favorite pictures of my kids up lets hope this works or I might just give up now. The first pic is of Oakleigh eating pringles on my parents gazebo. She is now 10 but is 2 in the pictures. I love this picture of her. The second pic is of Noah lovingly holding a kitten. LOL. He was also 2 in this photo but is now 8. And the last pic is of Izabelle on her 1st birthday (now age 5). She still had her red hair then. Yipee! I think I did it.
